SALEM — Rainier’s poor offensive showing in the first half was more than the Columbians could overcome as Warrenton claimed a 35-25 victory in the third place game of the Oregon Class 3A Girls Basketball Championships in the Cone Field House at Willamette University on Saturday.
Rainier finished its season 23-7, which included losing three of four meetings with Warrenton. The Warriors finished their season 27-3.
The Columbians hit 4-18 shots (22 percent) in the first half, including 1-6 in the second quarter as they trailed 22-10 at halftime. Warrenton canned 11-27 shots in the opening 16 minutes.
Rainier hit one-quarter of their shots in the second half (6-24), which also included misfiring on all eight of its three-point attempts. Despite the cold shooting in the second session, the Columbians outscored Warrenton 15-13.
Mollee Schwegler led Rainier with 11 points.

Toledo grabs eighth place
YAKIMA — Toledo made only four shots in the second half, including one in the third quarter, as Chelan held on for a 56-45 victory over the Indians in the fifth place game of the Class 1A Girls Basketball Championships in the Yakima SunDome on Saturday.
Toledo (19-7) led 14-11 after the first quarter and 25-22 at halftime, but was outscored by the Goats 19-7 in the pivotal third quarter.
Chelan outrebounded Toledo 44-32, made 18 steals and forced the Indians into 23 turnovers which were converted into 18 points.
Kelsey Stone led Toledo with 11 points, with Candi Zion adding 10.

Winlock takes fifth place
YAKIMA — Winlock knocked down 59 percent of its shots and outrebounded Naches Valley 33-23 as the fifth-ranked Cardinals rolled to a 56-38 victory over the Rangers in the fifth place game in the Class 1A Boys Basketball Championships at the Yakima SunDome on Saturday.
The Cardinals (24-3) matched their best-ever state finish by earning their third trophy after making an eye-popping 11-17 shots in the second half. Jake Brown scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half for Winlock, which led 25-19 at halftime.
Winlock held a 35-30 lead after three quarters, and made 7-9 shots and was 7-12 at the free throw line in the final eight minutes.
Tyler Hertz led Winlock with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Jordan Davis added 15 points, and Brown also grabbed 10 rebounds.
