BEAVERTON — Rainier runners Kayla Nagunst and Kaylee Kotkins placed 70th and 71st, respectively, in the annual Nike Border Clash cross country meet held at the Nike World Campus on Saturday.
The top runners from the Washington and Oregon state cross country championships were invited to participate in the 4400-meter runs for boys and girls.
Nagunst and Kotkins were the top runners representing the combined Oregon Class 3A/2A/1A state meet, finishing with identical times of 18:37.
Washington grabbed the top seven places in the boys’ run to beat Oregon 15-50, and Washington claimed a 19-44 triumph in the girls’ race.
Central Kitsap runner Shane Moskowitz, who won the Class 4A state title and has signed to run at Oklahoma State University, won the boys’ run in 14:06.29.
Amy-Eloise Neale, who won the Washington Class 3A state crown from Glacier Peak High, claimed the girls’ race in 16:37.1. Two-time Oregon 6A state champ Annamarie Maag of Jesuit was a close second in 16:38.2, and Anna Dailey, who won the Washington 4A championship from Seattle’s Garfield High, was third in 16:39.4.
