Three Rivers Christian was looking for revenge and looking to play its brand of volleyball, regardless of the score. Score two for the Eagles.
TRC swept Naselle 25-20, 25-22, 25-18 at home on Monday in a nonleague match, playing what head coach Jaymie Cox called "the best volleyball I’ve seen us play thus far."
Myriah Dombrowsky was an all-around force for the winners (5-2). She had 23 assists, a game-high 12 kills and nine digs.
Emily Claunch added 14 service points, eight digs and five aces, freshman Mariah Morrison had eight kills and 14 service points, Nikki Barnwell had six kills and three digs, and Lane Backstrom added eight kills for Three Rivers.
"We did a lot of little things right," Cox said. "Everyone chipped in."
The Comets, who beat TRC in five games in Naselle on Sept. 14, were thrown off by the intensity of the Eagles' gym and crowd, said their coach, Kim Eaton.
"We’ve never actually played at Three Rivers," Eaton said. "Their gym is really loud, and the girls weren’t prepared for that. We had a breakdown in communication."
Taylor Wasmundt had six kills and served 100 percent for Naselle (3-5).
TRC visits Vancouver Christian on Tuesday, while Naselle is at Willapa Valley on Thursday.
