Dan Jackson and Rob Edwards combined to top Curtiss Bergheim and Thomas Ault Jr. 245-237 in the title match to win the recent Oregon Bowlers Association Doubles Tournament sponsored by Satchman’s Pro Shop at Triangle Bowl.
More than five dozen doubles teams participated in the tournament. Former Kelso resident Anthony Bowman teamed with Longview’s Tom White as the tournament’s top qualifiers.
Bergheim-Ault opened the stepladder finals with a victory over Longview’s Lance Satcher and Matt Ramshaw, beat Nick Borgaro and Allen Breshears in the quarterfinals, and stopped Bowman-White in the semifinals before falling to Jackson-Edwards in the finals.
The Jackson-Edwards duo packed home $650 apiece, with Bergheim-Ault claiming $500 each. White-Bowman claimed $400 each, with Breshears-Borgaro winning $350 each. Satcher-Ramshaw pocketed $300 apiece.
Six other local pairings competed in the tournament but failed to cash. Ryan Fauland and Kevin Grimes finished 21st, Kurt Bogner and Greg Lindemann combined for 36th place, Scott Little and Bob Malone were 39th, Ricky Hefley and Carl Storms placed 45th, Beau Little and Travis Malakowsky grabbed 46th place, and Lowell Lovgren and Tyrel Brunelle finished 60th.
Price is right for Pro-Am win
Dan Price notched a total of 1701 to claim the $200 top prize in the recent 9-pin No-Tap Pro-Am Tournament held in conjunction with the Oregon Bowlers Association Doubles Tournament at Triangle Bowl.
Price rolled no-tap games of 222-268-235 to go with 144 handicap pins for 869, which was combined with 832 rolled by his three professionals to push him ahead of 59 other adult Pro-Am participants.
Nine other keglers also took home a share of the $720 prize fund. Orville Ravencraft finished second with 1660 for $110, followed by Gina Vicars (1643, $80), Rob Vicars (1642, $70), Crista Vicars (1638, $60), Brian Wilson (1632, $50), Roger Murphy (1628, $45), Pete Gamble (1627, $40), Lowell Lovgren (1617, $35) and Tyler Stacy (1615, $30).
In the junior Pro-Am, Gabe Bogner rolled no-tap games of 243-273-244, combined with his handicap and pro scores of 829 to tally 1697 and claim the tournament trophy.
Brian Jackson placed second among the 50 junior bowlers competing with 1688, followed by Erik Chamberlain (1672), Kayla Maki (1671) and Halie Brackney (1670).
Upcoming events …
The Cowlitz chapter of the United States Bowling Congress has planned three tournaments during the spring at Triangle Bowl.
The Women’s Doubles event will be held Feb. 21-22. Cost is $15 per bowler, and an additional $250 has been added to the prize fund.
The Open Tournament, featuring a singles and doubles format with $250 added to the prize fund, will take place during Feb. 28 and March 1. Cost is $20 per bowler per event, with optional scratch or handicap all-events entries available for an additional $5 each.
A Seniors Scotch Doubles tournament will be entertained during March 14-15. Cost is $22 per bowler, with each pairing to roll four games.

Bowl for the YMCA
A $250 gift certificate for use at any Shilo Inn is on the line at the first annual YMCA Bowling Tournament which will be held at 7 p.m. on May 8 at Triangle Bowl.
The tournament is open to all YMCA members and non-members, and is a fund-raising event for the YMCA for upcoming projects and new programs.
Cost is $20 per bowler or $80 for a four-person team, which includes two games per person and rental shoes. Teams are urged to wear similar attire, and can contact Pro Grafix (1005 15th Ave. in Longview) for a 10 percent discount.

Trio rolls perfect games
Bryan Kerr, Larry Nugent and Chris Skeie each carded 300 games during recent league sessions at Triangle Bowl.
Kerr rolled his perfect game as part of a 758 series in the Sportsman, Nugent carded his game in a 785 series in the Nighthawks, and Skeie notched his perfecto in a 694 series in the Dinner Hour.
Other recent top scores include Ryan Fauland with 278-783 and 268-778, Curt Glover rolled 268-749, Allen White had 279-741, Hiep Hua scored 266-739 and Beau Little had 268-738 in the Sportsman; Nick Lewis tallied 267-776 in the Ten Grand; Kurt Bogner carded 266-768, Lance Satcher tallied 258-762, Nick Abbott had 279-760 and Travis Malakowsky had 268-759 in the Triangle Classic; Kelly Day carded 279-765 in Bowlers Anonymous; Mark Fuqua had 274-764 and Lowell Lovgren tallied 259-739 and Kevin Grimes had 275-738 in Funtimes; Fauland had 256-763 and Kevin Grimes rolled 280-755 in the Happy Hour; Jeff Schulz tallied 268-750 in the Dinner Hour; and Mike James rolled 256-735 in the Sunday Swingers.
Rubin, Vicars, Little shine
Stacy Rubin rolled a 265 game and finished with a 719 series, Crista Vicars rolled 279-709 and Casea Little tallied 258-700 during recent outings in the Triangle Classic to lead recent women’s scores.
Other solid scores include Sandi Lovgren with 238-678 and 225-643 in the Funtimes; Vicars rolled 243-674 in the Triangle Classic; Michelle Bergeson had 238-664 and Cheri Rutherford added 250-648 in the Jackpot Classic; and Donna Tompkins had 225-650 in the Wake-Up Trios and rolled 237-631 in Bowlers Anonymous.
Rohwedder rolls a 691
Alex Rohwedder rolled 259-691 in the Swinging Seniors to lead senior league keglers in recent weeks.
Also in the Swinging Seniors, Vince Selzler carded 239-678, Glen Wines rolled 257-677, Addy Stinger added 236-643, Sandra Schlarb carded 204-555, and Lois Prynne had 201-538.
Ed Sharek had 235-678 in the Hi Seniors, which also featured Ray Hepler with 236-672, Dale Hogman with 223-653, and Ernie Gerald with 211-604.
Cam Machado carded 224-574 in the Wednesday Seniors, Noreen VanNurden rolled 215-594 and 195-540, and Mary Parker had 192-538 in the Grandmas league.
Driscoll cards perfecto
Brandon Driscoll rolled a 300 game as part of a 693 series, Matthew Bartness rolled 276-760, and Shay Thompson was close behind with 278-733 to lead the Junior/Majors league in recent sessions at Triangle.
Also from the Junior/Majors, Zack Stone rolled 257-694, Brittney Yoke had series of 256-647 and 249-640, and Riann Bogner tallied 224-623. Donte Viera led the Hi Juniors-Seniors with 228-608, and Anthony Mace added 220-597.
In the Boys High School League, Shay Thompson carded a 267 game as part of a 526 two-game series and also had 250-495, and Stone rolled 269-485 and 257-482. Perry Putnam had 257-473, Ray Nugent rolled 267-472, and Kyle DeSpain tallied 232-457.
