CORVALLIS, Ore. — The weekend started out well for the Oregon State Beavers and it just got better and better.
There was senior wide receiver Damola Adeniji's engagement to his longtime girlfriend during pregame senior day festivities. Then the Beavers went out and clocked the Washington Huskies 48-21, on the strength of Jacquizz Rodgers' 159 rushing yards and two touchdowns and Sean Canfield's four passing TDs, for their fifth win in six games.
After the game came news that the Pacific-10 Conference race was shaking out favorably for the Beavers, with No. 14 Stanford likely ending 22nd-ranked USC's eight-year run of conference titles, and Arizona falling to California and out of the top 25.
Then on Sunday, the Beavers entered the top 25 poll for the first time, at No. 20.
