HELENA, Mont. — The Big Sky Conference has suspended Eastern Washington football player Kyle Wilkins for an illegal hit against Weber State.
Wilkins, a senior linebacker, will serve a one-game suspension Saturday when Eastern Washington plays at Montana.
Wilkins was penalized for a personal foul after hitting a defenseless Weber State wide receiver above the shoulders with about three minutes left in the half of the Eagles 31-13 loss to the Wildcats.
League commissioner Doug Fullerton says commissioners and officials are trying to eliminate dangerous plays from the game.
