PENDLETON, Ore. — A Hermiston woman has been sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of her month-old daughter.
The East Oregonian newspaper reported that 22-year-old Michelle Barry gave her daughter, Jackelyn Dawn Beyers, an overdose of narcotics in her bottle in March 2007.
The baby's father, Chris Beyers, found his daughter dead on the couple's couch.
Barry apologized in court during her sentencing Tuesday, saying she did not expect Beyers to forgive her "because I don't forgive myself."
Beyers told the newspaper he wished that Barry had been sentenced to a longer term.
