PORTLAND — Facebook temporarily took down a fan page for a Washington state teen fugitive, and the social networking site did not explain its reasoning.
The Portland Oregonian reports the fan page for Colton Harris-Moore — who is suspected in about 50 burglary cases in Washington state and British Columbia since he slipped away from a halfway house in April 2008 — was taken down Friday morning without explanation.
The page was restored hours later. A Facebook spokeswoman declined to comment.
The 18-year-old has gained notoriety for consistently eluding police. He is suspected of having stolen a boat and small planes.
The page calls Harris-Moore “Western Washington’s new Jesse James (without the murders)…”
