HOOD RIVER, Ore. — A Washington bank now owns the Columbia Gorge Hotel at Hood River, Ore., after an auction failed to bring a single bid.
Mortgage holder ShoreBank Pacific became the sole owner of the historic hotel, which opened in 1921.
KGW says the hotel hosted its last guests in January, after previous sales attempts had failed.
The bank set a minimum bid of $4 million for Monday's auction at the Hood River County Courthouse, but drew no offers.
Bank marketing director Erin Fitzgerald says finding a buyer is in the best interests of both the hotel and the bank. But she adds that finding the right buyer is equally important.
Fitzgerald says the bank is now considering whether to hire a management company to open and operate the hotel.
