A final round of free cardboard for the Great Cardboard Boat Regatta® will be distributed Wednesday, but participants must request the amount they want in advance by 5 p.m. Monday.

Longview Fibre, which is co-sponsoring the July 4 regatta with The Daily News, is specially producing sheets of 6-foot-by-10-foot cardboard for the event’s boats. To get an idea of how much cardboard to manufacture, people who still need cardboard for boat building are required to contact Daily News reporter Amy Fischer at (360) 577-2532 or at afischer@tdn.com. Please provide your name and the number of sheets of cardboard you would like.

So far, Longview Fibre has donated 1,350 sheets of 200-pound-strength corrugated cardboard for the regatta, which will be held during the Go 4th Festival at Lake Sacajawea. A boat-building clinic held Saturday at the Longview Woman’s Club building drew about 50 people.
