According to a press release from the Cowlitz PUD, approximately 4,000 PUD customers were without electricity as of 9:15 a.m. in the following areas:
• Parts of Longview, including the west end of Ocean Beach Highway to the Wahkiakum County line and Sunset/Lone Oak
• Parts of Kelso, including Rose Valley, Carroll Rd, Mt. Brynion and the east end of Allen Street
• West of Castle Rock, including a portion of Delameter and the West Side Hwy
• The town of Ryderwood
• Part of SR 504, including much of Silver Lake, Toutle and Kid Valley areas
• Lewis River Valley along SR 503 from Ariel to Cougar
• The Hazel Dell Road area south of Castle Rock, where a tree has blocked the road and pulled down a considerable amount of overhead power lines.
All told, 11,200 PUD customers lost power since 3:20 a.m. due to high winds. Power has already been restored to Columbia Heights, Mt. Pleasant, 30th and Ocean Beach in Longview, Kalama, downtown Castle Rock and a large segment of the Delameter W. Side Hwy. area.
Cowlitz PUD reminds customers to sta y away from downed lines and call (360) 423-2210 to report a line down or power outage. The PUD serves 48,200 electric customers in Cowlitz County in Southwest Washington.
