CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Linn County Sheriff says a 25-year-old college student was clocked driving 153 mph on an Oregon highway before losing control and crashing in a ditch.

Sheriff Tim Mueller says Christopher V. Gordy was booked into jail Saturday on charges of attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, recklessly endangering and violation of the basic speed rule.

Gordy lives in California but attends college in Corvallis. He and a passenger in the car were traveling on Highway 20 to Bend. Neither were injured in the accident.
