Reports of sport angler checks from the past week and related information provided by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Columbia River sturgeon: From Bonneville Dam downstream to the Wauna powerlines, open to sturgeon retention Thursdays through Saturdays (not Sundays) through Dec. 31. 38-inch minimum fork length and 54-inch maximum fork length. Below Wauna, sturgeon retention closed for the rest of the year.
Columbia River salmonids: Catches in the Gorge have improved with higher flows. Bank anglers just below Bonneville Dam averaged 1 legal per 6 rods last week.
Cowlitz River: Anglers continue to catch a mixture of fall chinook, coho and steelhead. A 41-pound chinook was caught at the barrier dam last week. Most of the salmon catch was in the upper river.

Kalama River: More steelhead than salmon continue to be observed in the catch.
Lewis River: Anglers continue to catch coho, though the majority of the fish are now being released.
Silver Lake: Stocked with 4,269 catchable-sized rainbows on Nov. 9
