Kelso police made an arrest Saturday in connection with blue graffiti in South Kelso.
Police took a 16-year-old boy to the juvenile detention center on suspicion of four counts of third-degree malicious mischief. Police said he admitted tagging three locations in the 700 blocks of South Third and South Pacific avenues during the night Saturday and to being present while another boy tagged a fourth.
A witness on South Third told police late Friday night she saw the boy outside a garage that had fresh blue graffiti. She said she went to his house shortly afterward, where she saw blue paint on his hands.
When an officer asked the boy why he had been tagging houses all over town, he said he didn’t know, police said.
Kelso patrol officers have been documenting incidents of graffiti in blue paint. Recent tagged addresses in Kelso include the 300 block of South Fifth Avenue, 800 and 900 blocks of South Eighth, 1000 block of South Third and 400 block of Elm Street. It is unknown whether the boy is involved in any of these incidents, or with any similar incidents in Longview.
The investigation is continuing.
