Woodland School District voters may be asked to approve a 4 percent levy increase next year.
A proposal going before Woodland School Board on Monday would ask taxpayers to approve a three-year maintenance and operations levy that would generate about $3 million each year. The vote-by-mail election would collect ballots on Feb. 9.
The proposal would replace a $2.83 million M&O levy set to expire next year.
If approved, the school levy rate would increase from its current rate of $2.13 per $1,000 of assessed valuation to $2.14 per $1,000 in 2011. The owner of a $150,000 house would pay about $321 in taxes in 2011, just a couple dollars more than the 2010 rate.
Tax rates would increase to $2.18 per $1,000 in 2012 and $2.22 per $1,000 in 2013, if approved by voters.
The maintenance and operations levy helps pay for teachers and other expenses not covered by state funding.
The Woodland School Board meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the District Meeting Room on the Woodland campus, located at 800 Third Street.
