Police didn’t have to frisk this prowling suspect. A fence had already pulled down his pants.
Longview officers responded to the 500 block of 16th Avenue around 2 a.m. Monday after a witness called to report a man breaking into a neighbor’s SUV. He smashed the window with a garden hose reel, she said.
Officers Brian Nevels, Brian Durbin and Tim Deisher responded. As the suspect fled, Deisher released his police K9, Chase, who sped past the running officers to the 400 block of 15th Avenue.
The officers wrote in their reports that they arrived to see the suspect — later identified as Choirino Joe, 22, Longview — hanging upside-down from a chain link fence. The top of the fence had snagged Joe’s shorts and dragged them down to his ankles as his back slid toward the ground, police said.
Durbin, who had drawn his Taser during the pursuit, yelled, "Don’t move!"
Officers said Joe continued to resist while they freed him, but they got him under control, helped him stand — and then pulled up his red shorts.
The report did not indicate whether Joe wore undershorts.
He was booked on suspicion of second-degree vehicle prowling, third-degree malicious mischief and resisting arrest. Bail: $1,250.
