ST. HELENS, Ore. — A bronze memorial dedicated to the events of Sept. 11, 2001, has been stolen from a city park.

St. Helens police believe metal thieves took the 24-by-16-inch plaque, which is worth about $1,500 but has a scrap metal value of only a few dollars.

The plaque was affixed to a large rock and was part of a number of memorials located in McCormick Park, police said. City parks employees noticed that the plaque was missing Aug. 29. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the plaque is encouraged to contact the St. Helens Police Department at (503) 397-3333.
