CASTLE ROCK — A Castle Rock High School alumnus with three children in the district joined the school board Tuesday night, saying he wants to do his part to serve the community.
Skot Jones, 40, who ran unopposed in the November general election, was sworn into office during Tuesday’s meeting. He replaces Bill Schumacher, who did not seek a third term.
Jones, a chemist at Columbia Analytical Services Inc. in Kelso, is a 1988 graduate of Castle Rock High School. He and his wife have three children, ages 16, 11 and 10, who attend Castle Rock schools.
Jones said he ran for the seat because he wanted to get involved.
“Without sounding too cheesy, it’s important that everybody takes a part in representative government,” he said.
Jones said he plans to “represent the people and try to make sure programs are put forward to best education the kids.”
Also sworn in Tuesday was returning board member Harold Erdelbrock, who was appointed to the board in January and had to run to fill out the remainder of his-two year term. He also ran unopposed.
Vilas Sundberg, who also was re-elected after running unopposed, was absent Tuesday and will be sworn in next month.
