EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon State Police arrested a Seattle man accused of failing to stop following a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 5 south of Eugene.

Lt. Gregg Hastings says 40-year-old Jason C. Menk eluded police for nearly 10 miles Tuesday, and only stopped after Trooper Clay Core popped the car's tires with spike strips.

Menk has been charged with attempt to elude, reckless driving, driving under the influence of intoxicants, unlawful possession of a firearm and hit and run with property damage.

He was booked into the Lane County Jail and then taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center for an evaluation.
