TACOMA — Lynden has pulled off a stunning comeback by scoring twice in the final 1:31 of regulation to force overtime, then beating previously undefeated Prosser 35-34 in double overtime of the Washington Class 2A state championship on Saturday.

David Gaylord scored on a 1-yard run in the second overtime and Joel Brown’s extra point gave Lynden a 35-28 lead. Moments later, Prosser quarterback Jordan Durbin hit Kirby Moore on a 10-yard touchdown pass to pull the Mustangs within one. After exchanging time outs, Prosser went for the 2-point conversion, but Durbin was pressured and his desperation pass into the end zone was knocked down.

Prosser (13-1) led 21-6 with 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter, but the Lions (12-2) rallied with two scores in the final 91 seconds.

It’s Lynden’s second Class 2A title in the last three years.
