SEATTLE — Right-handers R.A. Dickey and Sean White have been sent outright to the minor leagues by the Seattle Mariners.
The team announced Friday that the 34-year-old Dickey has until Dec. 12 to decide if he will accept going to Triple-A Tacoma. If the knuckleballer declines, he will become a free agent.
Dickey was selected by Seattle in the Rule 5 draft a year ago.
He returned to pitch in the major leagues last season for the first time since April 6, 2006. He went 5-8 with a 5.21 ERA in 32 games, 14 starts in two stints with Seattle last season.
Dickey was often a fill-in starter for an injured and ineffective rotation as the Mariners lost 101 games.
The 27-year-old White went 6-11 with a 5.47 ERA in 22 starts with Tacoma in 2008.
