SALEM, Ore. — Lower Columbia College overcame a sluggish first half to notch an 83-70 victory over the Chemeketa Storm in nonleague women’s basketball on Tuesday.

“It was a tale of two halves,” LCC coach Chad Meadors said. “We were a little disorganized and didn’t get to our spots in the first half, but we got out and denied and cut things off in the second half.”

LCC (2-2) made 53 percent of its second half shots while holding the Storm to 27 percent shooting.

Sadie Salte scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half and grabbed eight rebounds. Heidi Jackson added 15 points, Jade Haas had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Allison Horazdovsky chipped in 10 points.

Marla Olmstedt scored seven points and had five assists in 33 minutes at point guard.

“Marla did a great job with only one turnover,” Meadors said. “It’s the first time we’ve had that kind of play in two years.”

LCC entertains Clackamas on Saturday.
