The court date in the land dispute between the Port of Longview and Kalama-based RSG Forest Products has been pushed back to Dec. 8.

The two parties will appear before a Cowlitz County Superior Court judge, who will determine whether the port has the right to force RSG to sell about six acres of land through eminent domain for a proposed $150 million grain terminal.

The six-acre parcel is the last piece needed for the terminal, financed by private companies Itochu and Bunge North America. It would employ about 50 longshoremen. The port also is planning to build a new Berth 9 to service the terminal.

RSG hopes to build a sawmill on its 54-acre parcel at the port, and company officials fear the port’s plan would put a wrench in the project. The sawmill would employ about 200 people.

The court date originally was set for Oct. 28, but it was delayed as the parties attempt to settle.

" I say it is still wrong to force someone to sell their property, even for the good of the community... been there, done that... and still don't like how it all turned out. "
