Accident victim Amber Mejia is continuing to recuperate at Legacy Emanuel Hospital after spinal surgery and a second abdominal surgery, her mother, Colleen Harren, said late last week.
Mejia, 32, was injured Oct. 26 in a one-vehicle accident that took the life of her former husband, Eric Mejia, who was driving.
She will require additional operations on her colon in a few months, her mother said.
"She’s got a long road ahead of her," Harren said. "She’s staying strong for her 4-year-old boy."
She said her daughter appreciates the support of her friends.
Amber Mejia is the administrative manager for the family business, Harren’s Plumbing & Service Center. Her parents are caring for the couple’s 4-year-old son, Trenton. Eric Mejia, 28, also had a 10-year-old son, Kyler.
Two donation accounts have been established. The "Amber and Trenton Mejia" account is at Fibre Federal Credit Union. The "Eric Mathew Mejia" account at Red Canoe Credit Union will help Kyler Mejia.
