SEATTLE — Washington has made it official that top national recruit Abdul Gaddy backed out of his commitment to Arizona and signed a national letter of intent with the Huskies.
Coach Lorenzo Romar also announced Friday his team has signed California junior-college forward Charles Garcia, Gig Harbor, Wash., product Clarence Trent and Utah prep scoring leader C.J. Wilcox to play for the UW next season.
Gaddy is a 6-foot-3 star from Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma who was one of three recruits who backed away from Arizona immediately after coach Lute Olson abruptly retired last month. He is rated by most scouting services as the second-best point guard in the country.
