SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners have filed a formal objection with the city against plans for a strip club to open within 400 feet of Safeco Field.

The team says that would violate a law that bans strip clubs within 800 feet of a park.

A lawyer for Deja Vu club developer Roger Forbes says the law applies to public parks not ballparks.

The lawyer, Peter Buck, says the city has already approved adult entertainment for the location, 1530 First Ave. S.

The Seattle Times says if approved it would be the second new strip club to open in Seattle since June of last year when a federal judge ended a 17-year moratorium.

" Just think how many fans leave bummed out from watching the M's lose... How about a beer and a pick me up before I hit the freeway? Come on!?! "

" I can see the M's point. I had to do some explaining to my kids after we walked in the wrong area of Vancouver BC a couple of years back. It would probably be different than BC where the girls hang out on the sidewalk in front of the business, but there's NO need for this that close to The Safe. Put it a mile south, no harm no foul! "

" Sounds like they just don't want the mariners over at the club is all.Where the public can see what the player do in there off time.If it happen's there will be a few more divorce on the mariners club or they will be shipped out to another team. "

" Gotta agree with Scratch on this one. It's about the only way to get any entertainment out of a trip to see the Mariners. "

" In regard to Lucky 7's comment, I took a more proactive stance with my daughter. When she was getting close to graduating HS she spoke of a college education. I saved myself untold thousands of dollars by installing a brass pole in her bedroom and told her to start practicing for her "new and exciting career". Nowadays, she's financially independent and "exercising her 1st admendment rights to free expression of art". "

" Is there not enough of these clubs around? There are alot of children that attend these games and other activities that go on at Safeco and At Quest Field. Our children are subject to enough of this crap from the tv. Does the owner think he will make alot of money having it next to the fields, More people have their kids with them and will not be able to enter his establishment. Does he have any children? All he's interested in is money!!!!!!! "

" I think these sort of things are victimless. The people who want to go there, go there, the people who don't, don't! Kids are gonna hear about them one way or another. I highly doubt you monitor what your kids watch that much. You see much more on TV and the Net. "

Bounder wrote on Oct 28, 2008 10:58 AM:

" stableone, The kids wont see a thing. The windows are covered up. I have never been in a strip club myself. But I have seen them from the street. They don't let you see anything until you pay for it. "

" I have no problems with the strip clubs, what I have a problem with is the stupid soon to be step-moms that work in one and think that it is okay to take MY 7 year old daughter into one!! I don't care that it was during the day and no one was stripping at that time, Have you seen the pictures that they put on the walls in there? Fine for my eyes, NOT OKAY FOR MY (emphasis on MY) DAUGHTER! "

" Sounds like a winner to me. I'm all for strip clubs near the Safe. Probably be better action there than on the field, at least for the next few years. At least at the strip club, you know your money will get you exactly what you want. "
