A Spokane man crash landed his plane in a Skamania County field early Saturday morning and escaped unharmed, authorities said.
The Skamania county Sheriff's Office said Lawrence Tobin, 66, took off Aurora State Airport in Marion County, Ore., but ran into engine trouble near Home Valley, Wash.
He attempted an emergency landing around 1 a.m. Saturday in a field five miles east of Stevenson and crashed into a tree.
Tobin was uninjured, but the plane was totaled, the sheriff's office said.
Fire crews contained fuel leaking from the aircraft and the investigation was handed over to the Federal Aviation Administration.
