PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is expected to consider the application for a liquefied natural gas import terminal at Bradwood Landing on the Columbia River on Thursday after more than three years of review.
Approval is expected with conditions, but other state and federal approvals would be required before construction could start on the project below St. Helens.
Clatsop County residents vote Tuesday on whether NorthernStar, which wants to build the terminal, can run a gas pipeline serving Bradwood across county land.
The terminal is opposed by environmentalists and residents of nearby communities. The state has accused FERC of a shoddy environmental review to rush the project.
