Highway 47 will close to all traffic south of Clatskanie for two weeks starting Wednesday, Aug. 27, so workers can replace a culvert.
The new 7-by-19-foot concrete culvert will improve fish passage at Fall Creek and help solve drainage problems in an area that flooded last winter.
The road is scheduled to reopen Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Motorists can detour around the closure by using Apiary Road, which connects Highway 47 south of Mist with U.S. 30 through Old Rainier Road and Larson Road just west of Rainier.
Electronic message signs will be placed at the intersections of U.S. 30 and Highway 47 and at Highway 47 and Highway 202 to advise motorists of the closure period.
