POULSBO, Wash. — A Poulsbo woman was jailed after being accused of beating up her fiance at their prenuptial party.

Kitsap County sheriff’s deputies say 31-year-old Amber Barnes’ 12-year-old son told her he saw her fiance kissing one of her women friends early Thursday morning.

Deputies say Barnes gave her friends the boot, told her fiance to leave, too, and then started hitting him in the face.

When he left the house, they say, she tackled him football-style, punched him some more, threw his watch into the bushes and broke his glasses.

Responding to a 911 call from her son, deputies arrested Barnes for investigation of fourth-degree assault.

Sheriff’s Lt. Kathy Collings says Barnes was released from jail later Thursday. There’s no word on whether the marriage took place.

" Okay, since when is beating up your fiance 4th degree assault? If a man had done that to a woman,it would have been at least 2nd degree assault....Yes,I am a woman. "

" What's that they say about a woman scorned?

I say go on with the marriage. What's one little argument? People have tiffs here and there. Hell, if she ain't gonna marry him the other girl will. Sounds like a hell of an episode from Mr. Springer. "

" Whatever the punishment given for the 4th degree assault charge, is probably less punishment than would have been if she married the cheater and had to live with his infidelity. On the other hand, maybe this prenup was the forsight of an over jealous companion who acts before they think. Depending on who this prenup was protecting holds the answer. And now they already have the answer to what it was they suspected may happen during their relationship. I'm glad people with these kind of problems have the sense to include a prenup before tying the knot. And PS: I bet they eventually get married anyway! "

" I'm not sure, but I don't think this was a party of signing the pre-nup. I THINK it was a prenuptial party, meaning that it was a party before they got married. I might be wrong, but that's what I got out of the article. "

" Smart Kid! He did not want his mother to marry this man. Was kiss a friendly on cheek or romantic on the lips? "

Domestic violence is a 4th degree assault charge. Regardless of who is involved. "

" A common symptom of todays society is ingrained in this story. This lady is informed by her son that he saw her fiance kissing another woman. According to the story we do not see where she asked her fiance why. Perhaps a goodybe kiss, good luck, or even sexual. Is her fiance sober? Instead she flys off the handle, creates a scene, beats up on her fiance, and ends up in jail. Had she enquired she might have found the kiss to be harmless. Some suggest that the kid set it up, which is entirely possible. Most children know their parents very well, but the opposite is seldom true. Mom's jealous, push the right button and bingo...she flys off the handle (or buys him that computer game. Underlying this society is an anger that one cannot put their finger on as to cause, so great that more and more people are flying off the handle for little or no reason and not enquiring to determine if it is justified or not. The frustation built up no matter the reason must be released. In far too many cases it is released in a negative way. We do not recommend that these two individuals continue with their marriage as both seem to have unresolved difficulties. The lesson for us here is "THINK BEFORE YOU ACT!" "

" How many times should he kick her butt after the wedding because of all the guys that kiss the bride in the reception line? "

" I think the only thing more surprising than the act itself is that this didn't actually occur in Cowlitz County. "
