Longview police have released a surveillance photo of a vehicle driven by a man who held up the Big Two Hero sandwich shop Tuesday.

Police said the man entered the Washington Way sandwich shop around 5:20 p.m., displayed a handgun and demanded all the money in the till.

He is described as a white man, 45 to 50 years old, 6 feet to 6-foot-2 inches tall, thin, with a dark complexion and dark hair. He wore a flannel shirt and dirty, khaki-colored painter’s pants. He left in a 2003 or newer white Chevrolet Silverado.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Dawn Taylor at 442-5844, the LPD tip line at 442-5929, or Crime Stoppers of Cowlitz County at 577-1206. Tips to Crime Stoppers may be anonymous.

" If we were watching CSI on TV, they would enlarge the photo so they could see the licesne number. They probably would also say how tall and how much the driver weighs. Seems pretty simple to me. Call Grism. "

" Thanks Justaguy, I laughed so loud I had to call my wife in to read the story and your comment. "

" To get off subject for a bit...Why is the still pic of the "live" web cam of the Cowlitz County fair better quality than the pics generated by banks and businesses whenever there's a robbery? Maybe our local banks should purchase the same system used at the fair? "

" With all the ado do you think the guys still got the canopy on the truck? "

Silly Billy wrote on Jul 31, 2008 7:35 AM:

" Might look on Craigslist for a canopy like the one shown. Heck... you might even find the whole truck/canopy package deal for a reasonable price. Keep your eyes peeled! "

" BIG TOWN HERO!! Was that so hard? Why oh why can't the Daily Snooze take a moment to read what they write? This is the exact reason I won't pay for the paper. There is hardly anything worth reading in it-and the stuff that is, is incorrect 3/4 of the time. On another note-with the downward economy I think we all have to be more cautious as robberies are going to occur more and more in our naive little town. "

" Ella Mentry: that picture is not better than the bank camera pictures. Put a person in front of that camera and you wouldn't be able to identify them either. Sure, you can identify a 5000 lb truck, but you wouldn't be able to identify the driver even if he walked in front of the camera, smiled and waved. "

My Kids' Mom wrote on Jul 31, 2008 10:28 AM:

" I also think that the canopy is probably being ditched. If it's located I bet there are some good finger prints on it. That's a pretty big object to get wiped down clean. You know that guy has to be somebody's neighbor. If this guy isn't caught I will blame the police because this is a great and distinctive photo. I think the building owner should get the businesses together to put up a reward....then maybe the neighbor will talk. You can't tell me that no one knows that truck....get the photo out LPD. Let's communicate people. Put up a big booth at the fair of the photos of recent/local crimes. This is our community and I won't let it go down the crapper! "

" It seems like these criminals in Longview are getting away with murder here. How many robberys have we had here and still don't have a suspect.
Well I am sure they did not all wear gloves...maybe we could take fingerprints, hair fibers, or something ingenious. If this was a bigger city, they would have caught the guys.
It will continue to happen as long as nothing is done about it. "

" Nobody here saying we should shot it out with this guy anymore, we apparently have photo of his truck and he'll be apprehended within the week. Where are the gun nuts now? I guess the gun isn't the answer here. "

My Kids' Mom wrote on Jul 31, 2008 9:34 PM:

" How is shooting a guy sticking a gun in your face NOT the answer? I didn't hear anyone say "So glad there weren't any good marksman around at the time packin' heat". Interesting that your comment was not directed at the article but instead a comment to arouse a "gun law" debate. So your the guy who picks a fight just for kicks? By the way that was a rhetorical question because I have nothing further to say to you. "

" seems to me the licesne plate was blured out by the police even the car behind the trucks plates were blured out. to the lpd lower the pixels on the camera and you might be able to make out the plate numbers.... "
