The body recovered Saturday from Goble Creek has been positively identified through dental records as Gabriel Triplett, Lt. Gerry Simmons of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.

Triplett, 23, of Rainier was reported as a missing person Feb. 28.

The Oregon medical examiner found no sign of trauma in an autopsy performed Monday, Simmons said. A complete report from the medical examiner will be available in about three weeks.

" It's been a horrible nightmare going through the waiting and wondering. Similar to four years ago, when Gabe brought this community together, pulling for his recovery, again he has brought us together hoping for his safe return. Our hearts go out to Alice and Mich, and the rest of the family. He was a great man, and an inspiration to many! "

" Even though we all had a feeling that this was the case, it is still a sad shock to see it confirmed in writing. Such a sad situation. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. May happy memories of their time with Gabe help them through the rough days ahead. It is obvious that he will be missed by many. I met Gabe on a few occasions, and he was a very thoughtful guy. Such a tragedy. "

" I had so hoped that this would not be the way it turned out. I feel so sad for this poor family who has already buried one child. I cant even imagine the pain they must be going through. Just know that the thoughts and prayers of many in this community are with you. "

" I knew Gabe from LCC. What a sweetheart he was. So full of life and love. He always had a smile on his face and never failed to make sure I did also. I am so so sorry for his family. I hope you are able to celebrate his life instead of mourning his death. God gained an angel, and what an angel he truly is. RIP Gabe "

I remember wrote on Apr 15, 2008 11:49 PM:

" I remember how we all were so surprised the night of a Rainier football game when Gabe made his surprise and first return back to the school, after he was in the accident and we all were hoping so much for his recovery all along the way, and during the game a car suddenly drove around the field track and it drove him past all of us in the stands, all of us not expecting this at all. And there was Gabe!! sitting in the passenger seat with his window down looking up at all of us. He tried to wave to all of us as he rode by. We were all so happy to see him and greeted him with cheers. What an eventful night it was to have this happen. It is so very hard to have this happen now, after he had survived something so hard. We were all so used to his making it, through some very tough odds. For him to leave so uneventfully this time, seeming in silence. It almost feels like he deserved more than this. It is so hard to see this now, after all he and his family had been through. We had gotten so used to his making it. This just doesn't seem "so" and doesn't seem possible. We were all ready to see him make it again, because it was such a joyful feeling the first time. We miss you. "

" I had the pleasure of knowing Gabe growing up. I first met him when his sister and I were members of the same 4-H club and let me tell you. Gabe always brought a smile to the table. My favorite encounter with Gabe was in 2003 at country fest. Jodee Messina was playing and I ran into him. I was in shock and awe at how well he hit the high notes as he sang along to I'm alright. This is such a tragedy he always brought happiness and harmony to whoever he was around. Choir class was never as fun when he was gone. My prayers go out to Alice and Mitch. Know that we are thinking of you in your time of need. Gabe will be missed, but NEVER forgotten. "

" You inspire me good friend, there was never anything about you that wasn't pure and whole hearted, you came through so much and had so much on your heart that could have made it heavy, and although it may have been, you never showed it. we only got to see the wonderful loving man you became to be. although i'm sad to lose such a greatness in my life, and this world should be sad for loseing one of it's best... your at peace and in heavens arms. Good bye Gabe missed terribly but never forgotten. "

" Thank you soo much for bringing up the joyful times we spent with Gabe. We do need to celebrate his life. Because that is the way Gabe would have wanted it. This town lost a very special person! I to thought there would be a happy ending. And held out to the very end that he would show up. I will miss Gabe's hugs, He was soo free with them when you saw him, and his smiling face.
My prayers to Alice and Mitch. "

" So nice to see a community come together. I did not know this family or this man. But from reading the comments his parents were very lucky and should be very proud of their son.

Just by reading the stories I'm proud of him. Bless "
