LCC outscores Yakima 26-0 in two games

YAKIMA - Lower Columbia College pounded out 32 hits in the doubleheader as the Red Devils swept Yakima Valley 12-0 and 14-0 in nonleague baseball action on Sunday.
Ben Rosen pitched five innings with relief help from Luke Zirkle in the opener. The Devils collected 12 hits, with Brooks Lindsley collecting three and knocking in three runs. Shawn Peterson added two hits and two RBIs.
Michael Green pitched four innings in the nightcap before yielding to Brian Erickson and Alex Levin for two innings apiece, and Lindsley for one inning. Sean Winston had five of LCC's 20 hits, Zirkle had three hits and five others had two apiece.
Richie Allen belted a three-run homer.
LCC (3-1) entertains Chemeketa in a doubleheader at noon Saturday, and hosts Mount Hood in a twinbill at noon Sunday.

Devils win five of six
RICHLAND - After a rough start in their season opener, the Lower Columbia College softball team won five of six games at the Columbia Basin Tournament held at the Columbia Playfields concluding Sunday.
On Sunday, LCC won twice via the eight-run mercy rule, topping Spokane 11-1 and Walla Walla 9-0.
Anna Owen and Hayley Ridout each hit home runs, and Carri O'Neil tossed the victory against Spokane. Courtney Sherman twirled a three-hitter in the victory over Walla Walla. Kayla Vickaryous had four hits and Ridout added another round-tripper.
On Saturday, LCC used the long-ball to smack Everett 9-2 and Bellevue 9-1. Samantha Petrich belted a grand slam, Ashlea Strode added a three-run blast and O'Neil had a solo blast to back her pitching against Everett.
O'Neil tossed the victory and hit a grand slam against Bellevue.
On Friday, LCC allowed six runs in the first two innings of its season opener with Walla Walla before falling to the Warriors 6-2. The Devils bounced back to topple Columbia Basin 6-2.
Camy Way belted a home run for the Devils against Walla Walla, and Sherman tossed the victory with relief help from O'Neil.
LCC is idle until March 14 when it visits Yakima Valley for a doubleheader.
