Valley can be saved

Thank you, Trudy Fredrickson, for your letter and everyone who has lent their shoulder. The backing and speaking out against non governmental organizations like Columbia Land Trust will benefit the community; we cannot be apathetic. In my opinion and experience, CLT and others have come to take away and destroy what we hold dear: our community, our land, and the rivers to create swamp land.

Please do not feel sorry for me. This is not helpful and it fuels the fear. In my opinion CLT and Ducks Unlimited have made me their poster child for what happens to unwilling sellers. I have my days when hope is only a word. I know many of you and I know the destruction of this valley is not what you want. I have been asking the county for checks and balances, for honesty, fairness, and protection and I have received none. With all new commissioners I feel there is hope. I am only one person saying stop the insanity, stop destroying our rivers, the ecosystem, our homes, land, and farms. If more would speak out the Grays River Valley will be saved.

Vote for the individual

I agree with  Darlene P. DeRosier's letter to the editor Jan. 12, and if you haven't read, it you should. The only thing I would change is she should have added Dave Grumbois' name along with his wife Diane Grumbois', the self-appointed speakers for the Democratic Party.

They don't speak for me, either.

Stranger provides best gift

My husband and six year-old daughter were driving on Dec. 22 or 23 when the car broke down on Ocean Beach Highway next to the lake.  A man named Dylan stopped and offered them help.

He maneuvered his vehicle behind ours and put on his flashers.  Then he helped my husband push the car quite a ways up the road and onto Kessler Boulevard.  As if that were not enough, he then drove my husband and daughter to a relative's house.

I just wanted to write this letter to say, "Thank you very much" to Dylan.  My husband and daughter never made it to their shopping trip, but that's OK because your stopping and helping them was the best gift I could've asked for. Your kindness meant so much to us all. God bless you.  We wish you a wonderful New Year.

Distorted facts of LNG

Gordon Sondker's commentary on the facts for allowing an LNG terminal at Bradwood sounds like it was written by a NorthernStar public relations representative with their rhetoric and distorted facts.

Sondker has natural gas confused with LNG.  LNG, from foreign sources, plant to customer, comes close to coal as a dirty fuel.  Remember, it must be frozen to a liquid, shipped to the USA,then gasified. Each step in the process of getting LNG to the market creates pollution.

  *  LNG is not a waste fuel, it is in short supply worldwide which will raise prices above natural gas.

  *  He has confused a ruptured tanker of LNG with the results of an experiment done with a water glass of LNG.  A great deal of difference.

  *  Why would LNG lower natural gas prices? Get real, imported LNG will make us dependent on foreign sources for natural gas.

I agree with Sondker that a forum of the true facts needs to take place. The only answer the public gets now from NorthernStar is: it's confidential,"
