The Daily News Web site now offers Spanish-language content intended to serve the Lower Columbia region's fast-growing Hispanic community, which numbers about 8,000.
The new Web page, launched Wednesday, includes Spanish-language summaries of stories from the Daily News. It will increase the amount of information about Longview, Kelso, Woodland and other local communities reaching Spanish speakers and offer a space where events and news of particular interest to the Hispanic community can be featured.
The new feature will not affect the newspaper's English-language coverage of the local community, but story ideas originating through the new Web page could later appear in the regular newspaper.
Web users will not be able to able to submit story comments, but this feature may be added later. Stories will be added to the Web site on Wednesdays. If you know of an upcoming event or story of importance to the local Hispanic community, e-mail Web reporter Thacher Schmid at tschmid@tdn.com.
To access the new section, go to tdn.com and click on the green, white and red "ESP" icon, or type "tdn.com/esp" into your Web browser.
