As a result of a successful Taste of the Town Event held recently, the Southwest Washington Symphony Auxiliary presented a check for $6,000 to the Southwest Washington Symphony.
The all-volunteer local symphony orchestra began in 1967. The Symphony Auxiliary was formed in 1977. The group provides funds and other support to the symphony including chairs, music stands, scholarships for young artists, support for the young artist auditions, receptions for guest artists and symphony musicians, underwriting for music purchases and rentals, and for the newly created symphony general manager position.
Glenda Schuh is the auxiliary president and one of the group's founding members.
The Southwest Washington Symphony will provide a free concert for the community at Lake Sacajawea on July 4.
