Parks and Recreation offers classes

The following community and youth enrichment classes are sponsored by the Longview Parks and Recreation Department. Registration is accepted weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Parks and Rec office, 2920 Douglas St., Longview.

• Beginning Painting --- 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, April 3-24, Woman's Club Building. 835 21st Ave., Longview; students will learn about tile murals and accessories, basic painting techniques for tiles and the kiln firing process; class supplies and firing included in fee; instructor Mary Lou LaBerge; fee is $65 in-city, $70 out-of-city; session 31795

• Adult East Coast Swing --- 7:30-8:25 p.m. Tuesdays, April 3-24, Woman's Club Building, 835 21st Ave., Longview; beginner class will concentrate on the basics; instructor Glenn Woods; fee is $25 in-city, $30 out-of-city; session 31298

• Adult Cha Cha --- 6:30-7:25 p.m. Tuesdays, April 3-24, Woman's Club Building, 835 21st Ave., Longview; class will concentrate on the basic and programs as rapidly as appropriate; instructor Glenn Woods; fee is $25 in-city, $30 out-of-city; session 31297

• Adult nutritional detox --- 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, April 11-May 2, Woman's Club Building, 835 21st Ave., Longview; medically supervised nutritional cleanse instructed by licensed naturopathic physicians; receive information about food choices, hydrotherapies and exercise to aid the body in elimination of toxins, identification of food allergies and minimizing toxin exposure; instructor Dee Keller, naturopathic physician; fee is $60 in-city, $65 out-of-city; session 31473

• Hula Dance --- 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, April 17-May 22, McClelland Arts Center, 951 Delaware St., Longview; class includes various types of Hawaiian dance (Hula Kahiko and Hula Auana), costumes used for each dance, the basic foot and hand motions and complete choreographies; instructor Terrie Phillips; fee is $25 in-city, $30 out-of-city; session 31354

Youth enrichment classes:

• Adventures in Sewing --- 10 a.m.-noon April 2-6, Catlin Center, 106 N.W. Eighth, Kelso; ages 7 to 12; sewing basics; sewing machine and tools are supplied; fee is $37 in-city, $42 out-of-city; students need to provide their own fabric; supply list available at registration; session 31395

• Around the World Daycamp --- 3:30-5:30 p.m. April 2-6, McClelland Arts Center, 951 Delaware St., Longview; ages 9-12; learn about languages, geography, customs, games and food from different cultures around the world; make a passport and get it stamped different countries are visited; fee is $35 in-city, $40 out-of-city; session 31508

• Future Little Carpenters --- 10-11 a.m. April 2-5, Lowe's Home Improvement, 2850 Ocean Beach Highway, Longview; ages 6-12; learn basic carpentry skills, how to identify tools, learn safety with tools and learn how to make special projects to take home; includes materials, free apron, goggles and hammer; fee is $20 in-city, $25 out-of-city; session 31015

• Kids in the Kitchen --- 2-3:30 p.m. April 2-5, Monticello Middle School Home Economics Room, 1225 28th Ave., Longview; ages 8 to 12; learn how to prepare simple meals, snacks and desserts to sample; bring home recipes and entertaining ideas to try; fee is $40 in-city, $45 out-of-city; session 30748
