The White Pass Ski Lodge east of Packwood was burglarized Monday between 12:45 and 5 a.m., and sheriff's officials are warning the public about credit and debit card receipts that may have been taken in the heist.
Two men forced entry into a door on the lower level of the ski lodge. The burglars broke into an office and removed a safe using a hand truck belonging to the ski lodge.
The safe contained several thousand dollars as well as credit and debit card receipts bearing cardholders' card numbers.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Office has released a description of the two suspects, who were caught briefly on surveillance tape.
Suspect 1 is a white man between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-7. No facial hair was seen. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with dark stripes on the sleeves and writing on the front.
Suspect 2 is a white man between 5-foot-11 and 6 feet tall. No facial hair was seen. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with two white stripes from the top of the hood down the center of the back. There was some type of writing or logo on the bottom of the sweatshirt front.
The sheriff's office suggests that people who used their credit or debit cards at White Pass Ski Lodge over the past few days advise their credit card companies of the situation. The companies may be able to place an alert on the account to monitor the card for any fraudulent transactions.
The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the sheriff's office at (360) 748-9286.
