A woman wanted since May in connection with attempting to elude police and resisting arrest was booked into jail Friday morning on a warrant.
On May 28, police went to Wal-Mart to investigate a theft of money where the victim was confronting the suspects. Before police arrived, one of the suspects fled in a green Dodge Caravan.
Police tried to stop the Caravan at 32nd Avenue and Olympia Way. They said Eva Louise Hawes -- whom an officer recognized -- eventually stopped for a red light at 30th Avenue and Ocean Beach Highway, but would not turn the engine off.
As an officer was breaking the passenger-side window with a police baton, traffic in front of the Caravan began moving. Police said Hawes recklessly sped away, running several red lights.
Court documents show that frequent attempts were made over the past six months to serve Hawes, 44, with a summons. Hawes has had multiple addresses, including Kelso and Rainier, and she was tracked down in Eugene.
In court Friday, Hawes told Judge James Warme she had no idea why she was under arrest. He appointed John Hays as her attorney and set bail at $5,000.
