The federal government has recognized Twin City Bank for helping entrepreneurs find loans and helping boost the area's economic pulse.
The U.S. Small Business Administration Monday awarded the bank its District Directors' Award for Excellence in recognition for the bank's involvement with the agency's loan programs.
Dennis Lloyd, the lead lender relations specialist with the district, said Twin City handled 36 SBA loans totaling $6.2 million within the past 12 months. SBA loans usually finance businesses ventures that can't get regular commercial loans.
"It's a heck of an accomplishment for our district to see those numbers," Lloyd said. "They are definitely within the top 10 of loans handed out."
"This puts a lot more resources in the community," district director Leon Milobar said. "These loans are important to the vitality of a community. They keep the economy viable."
This is the third year the Portland district has given this award. The district represents Southwest Washington and most of Oregon.
"We were recognized in being a leader in lending for small business," said Don Jones, president of Twin City Bank. "This recognizes the fact that we do strive to help small businesses."
