Mark Morris teammates Austin Brown and Matt Argyropoulos, and R.A. Long's Karlis Liepa were selected first-team members of the Class 3A/4A All-State baseball squad in a vote of the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association last weekend in Seattle.

Brown and Liepa are seniors, while Argyropoulos is a junior.

Brown, the Greater St. Helens 3A League's Player of the Year, batted .567 (38-for-67) and had 16 extra-base hits (six home runs, nine doubles, one triple) for the season. He also had 32 RBIs and an on-base percentage of .618.

Argyropoulos, a shortstop and pitcher, batted .410 with six homers and a team-high 38 RBIs, and was 5-3 on the mound.

Liepa was the Lumberjacks' starting right fielder, batting .420, and was the team's top relief pitcher.

Named to the second-team 3A/4A all-state team were Mark Morris junior first baseman and pitcher Ian Dahl (.348 batting average, 5-0 with a 3.44 ERA on the mound) and Camas senior Scott Hagensen.

Honorable mention went to Mark Morris senior Mac Collette (.368), Kaden Donovan of Camas and R.A. Long senior Max Fisher.

University of Washington signee Ben Guidos of Highline (Burien), a first baseman and pitcher, was the state's Player of the Year, and Marco Malich of Peninsula was the Coach of the Year.

Malich's Seahawks beat Mark Morris in the regional playoffs and advanced all the way to the 3A state title game, where they lost to Newport (Bellevue) at Safeco Field on Saturday.
