Public invited to enjoy battle for the band

The public is invited to watch the auditions of seven young musicians vying to perform with the Southwest Washington Symphony and Southwest Washington Youth Symphony.
The free event will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church.
The program will include:
• Danielle Fortner, marimba, Mark Morris junior. She will perform part of a Bach concerto originally for violin.
• Megan Kitchens, violin, Mark Morris senior. She will play the Mendelssohn violin concerto.
• Sam Page, alto saxophone, Kelso senior. He will play portions of "Tableaux de Provence" by Paule Maurice.
• Suzanne Farnell, violin, home-school senior. She will play the Haydn Violin Concerto in C Major.
• Laurel Shelter, piano, Lower Columbia College sophomore. She will play "Rondo Brilliante" by Mendelssohn.
• Amanda Reynolds, trumpet, Kelso senior. She will play the Hummel trumpet concerto.
• Sarah Clarke, piano, home-school senior. She will play a movement of Mozart's Concerto No. 20.
The Southwest Washington's Young Artist concert will be at 7:30 p.m. April 11. The Youth Symphony's Young Artist concert will be at 4 p.m. May 21. Both are at the Columbia Theatre.
